Sustainability Sunday #61

Merry Christmas folks!

My favourite time of year has arrived, somewhat quicker than I’d hoped for actually but nevertheless the best day of family fun, eating and giving is just a mere few hours away.

For many Christmas is a wasteful occasion: unnecessary and unwanted gifts, far too much packaging, far too much food and a hella lot of money. Over the last few years I’ve slowed it right down with the goal of reaching a more sustainable and thoughtful Christmas. I’ve gone for gifts that people actually need, activities instead of tat and homemade presents – chutneys, beauty products and absolutely handmade Christmas cards. In a world where we over-consume almost everything it’s amazing how much more appreciated a handmade gift can be.

This Christmas Eve I’m home in Northamptonshire with my family ready for 3 days of home comforts, cooking, movies and games. So wherever you are this Christmas and whatever your traditions may be, I wish you a wonderfully Merry Christmas and cheers to 2018!
